Biafra, God Answers
Biafra, God Answers is a poetic survey of the ramifications that bleed out of the wounds Biafrans still carry today. The perspective of this story places an emphasis how the wounds are identified, perpetuated and healed by the Igbo diaspora. Many of the scenes evoked in this body of work juxtapose the genocide of war with the disappointments of every day life for the ones seeking sovereignty over their souls and their lives. Interspersed through the text are poems that shout an undeniable allegiance to life, vitality, and rebellion. Even as the mist of war leaves memories that haunt the Igbo people through time, these words beckon the reader to engage with the hot spirit that God gave the Igbo people, the one we so frequently associate with the strength (and frustration) that comes with embodying the heat of the Nigerian sun.
